It’s that time of year when we all start making new year’s resolutions, and— let’s be honest— they’re usually not very exciting. Eat better, get more exercise, quit a bad habit… sure, all of these are great ideas. But this year, how about adding a bit of fun to your “to-do” list?
Here in Park City, there are always plenty of new things to try and new places to explore. So once you’ve slipped out of skis or your snowboard, why not try something completely different in 2023? Here are three of our favorite off-the-beaten-path winter adventures in Park City, plus a bonus look at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival.
Dog Sledding
If your idea of a great day involves spending it with a furry, four-legged friend, then an exhilarating day of dog sledding will be right up your alley. Rancho Luna Lobos is an award-winning kennel located just 15 minutes outside of Park City.
With impressive packs that include Iditirod-trained dogs and rescue dogs, you’ll be in good hands with this family-owned and operated business. An afternoon spent exploring the trails behind an athletic pack of perfectly trained canines is completely exhilarating and utterly unforgettable. Trust us, you’ll be talking about it for months after you’ve completed your breathtaking tour!
Snowshoeing
Great for beginners and experts alike, snowshoeing in Park City requires absolutely no experience and can be enjoyed by any skill level. With fully guided private tours that last anywhere from two to four hours, you’ll experience the majestic Rocky Mountain beauty like never before while also getting in a great workout.
Snowshoes allow you to explore terrain that would normally be off-limits to normal hikers, plus you’ll get to see some truly magnificent views and scenery. Check out Destination Sports to schedule your tour.
Tubing
Looking for an activity that’s easy, laid-back, and just plain fun? Then you’ll want to take the whole family on a tubing trip. Like traditional hillside sledding except on a more comfortable, inflated inner tube, most Park City tubing sites even have lifts to take you back up the hillside— so you get all the fun with minimal effort. Sounds good to us!
As you can guess, tubing is ideal for kids of all ages, and some of the hillsides are even lighted, making tubing a perfect nighttime adventure for the whole family! Check out Woodward Park City to purchase tickets.
Bonus: Don’t Forget About Sundance!
This year, the world-famous Sundance Film Festival will be held in Park City from January 19 to January 29. For ten days, our town is taken over by some of the world’s most gifted storytellers, for a showcase of amazing motion pictures and documentaries. This is the first time the festival is happening in person since 2019, so you don’t want to miss the excitement!
